Internet is probably the Media that allows a more global communication. With the internet we can get news from all over the world and communicate with people everywhere.



“Reality shows"

A “reality show” is a television program based on real life. Always with ordinary people and not actors, there are no scripts. But in my opinion, it’s a very modified and influenced form of reality, because participants are placed in an abnormal place and situations.

In Portugal the most famous reality show was probably “Big Brother”, a group of people living together in a house, trying to make some tasks and being voted, by the audience, to leave every week.

I don’t like this kind of shows very much, but I guess people like it because they can relate to the situations and we never now what will happen.

Young people and the internet

Young people can’t live without internet today. They work better with new technologies so normally they are more advanced users than their parents. Most of them spend a lot of time surfing the Net.

Internet has brought them a lot of advantages: easy access to information; fast communication with friends from everywhere; entertainment, like games, chat rooms, music; it’s even a great help with studies. But Internet as also changed the way young people live, it can separate them from real world, they loose personal contact and have difficulties in real communication.

The Internet is a great help for young people but it can also be an addiction.

My family

 My family has four members. Me, my sister, my mother and my stepfather. Now we’re just three at home because my sister has moved out.

My mother is 43 years old. Her name is Paula. She is medium size, has blond hair and brown eyes. She’s a housewife.

My stepfather, Paulo, is 37 years old. He’s tall with brown eyes and hair. He’s a store manager.

My sister is older than me, her name is Sofia, she’s 23 years old. She is small, has light brown hair and brown eyes. She’s now living near Lisbon.

My entire family is big, I have one grandmother and one grandfather, many uncles and aunts, and lots of cousins, more than twenty.

I love my family, I’m very lucky that we are so many but very close.

The new technologies have changed the way we see the world today.

This cartoon shows how fast it’s evolving. Everyday there are new and improved things, surprising everyone.

It’s important to continue this evolution but I hope we wont get this far, it would be very strange having our name on a crossing sign.

Cell Phones

Today everybody uses cell phones. People are becoming more and more dependent on cell phones because they make their lives easier. Now people can take their phones everywhere. It’s indispensable for emergency situations and for business. But it’s also great for parents, they can reach their children anytime. You can also connect to the internet.

It has its disadvantages too, people get addicted, if they forget their cell phones they feel uncomfortable or unable to function.

Anyway cell phones are one of the most important technologic innovations today.

José Mourinho – Psychological description

José Mourinho is a very popular football coach. I choose him because I think he is the best in the world.   

He is very self-confident and not a very modest person, that’s probably why he is so polemic.  At work he is very professional, intelligent, demanding, hard-working, methodical and always sets the example, he is the first to arrive and the last to leave, making him a very successful coach.

But out of work he his known to be a very simple, friendly and accessible person.

All this makes him loved by some and hated by others.

These are some cartoons about computers in stone-age, a funny past of computers. But, for me, computers are very important in the present and probably even more in the Future.

My professional world will always be connected to computers. I’m studying informatics and I want to be an Informatics Technician.  

My school

I go to school at “Escola Profissional Bento de Jesus Caraça” in Oporto; I’m on the second year of “TGEI” – Management of Informatics Equipment. It’s a small school, with only three professional courses. The School is on the first and second floors of a small building. It has a bar but no canteen, so we have lunch out in the city. It has several class rooms, a lab and two computer rooms
and a room were we practice on old computers. It also has a small patio were we spend our free times. Usually school starts at 8:20 am, I get there by bus or metro. It’s a small school but great, I love my course and the friends I made.
